Book Review: Husband Material by Alexis Hall (ARC)

One (very real) husband

Nowhere near perfect but desperately trying his best

In BOYFRIEND MATERIAL, Luc and Oliver met, pretended to fall in love, fell in love for real, dealt with heartbreak and disappointment and family and friends…and somehow figured out a way to make it work. Now it seems like everyone around them is getting married, and Luc’s feeling the social pressure to propose. But it’ll take more than four weddings, a funeral, and a bowl full of special curry to get these two from I don’t know what I’m doing to I do.

Good thing Oliver is such perfect HUSBAND MATERIAL.

I received Husband Material by Alexis Hall for free by the lovely Martina at Sourcebooks in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so so much for my advanced copy!!

Everyone knows how much I loved Boyfriend Material and I genuinely screamed when this came through my mailbox! It’s one of my most anticipated reads for the year and it was such a nice surprise to get this ARC! I think I owe Sourcebooks my soul now 😂

Alexis’ writing was once again fantastic - I was immediately pulled into the story and it felt like home. It was so nice to see Luc & Oliver again - I love their relationship, their banter and all of their drama! The characters were all perfect, you could see the growth that they have all gone through but they were still fundamentally themselves and the humour between all of them was excellent.

Plus, Four Weddings & A Funeral is one of my favourite ever movies and the fact that this story followed a similar format with one of my favourite book couples made me SO HAPPY! This book is romcom gold in my eyes but I do have to say - Alexis Hall you got me with that ending!! However, it was so Luc & Oliver I should have seen it coming!! 😂

Husband Material is a sweet, romantic and brilliant story that truly is a love letter to the characters and the fans of these books. I loved it so much!
