Book Review: Love & Other Natural Disasters (ARC)
"When Nozomi Nagai pictured the ideal summer romance, a fake one wasn’t what she had in mind.
That was before she met the perfect girl. Willow is gorgeous, glamorous, and…heartbroken? And when she enlists Nozomi to pose as her new girlfriend to make her ex jealous, Nozomi is a willing volunteer.
Because Nozomi has a master plan of her own: one to show Willow she’s better than a stand-in, and turn their fauxmance into something real. But as the lies pile up, it’s not long before Nozomi’s schemes take a turn toward disaster…and maybe a chance at love she didn’t plan for."
I received Love & Other Natural Disasters by Misa Sugiura for free by Harper 360 YA in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much for my advanced copy - this is one of my most anticipated reads of the year, I've been so excited to read it!
Our main character is Nozomi and she is a fierce believer in love even though she hasn't been very lucky so far. After getting an internship in San Francisco for the summer, she plans to change her life and get her fantasy dream girl, even if it is a fake relationship to begin with. Nozomi was such a fun character and I loved her optimism throughout the book. She faces a lot of challenges but doesn't let them get her down and deserves an amazing love story!
I am loving the fake dating trope at the moment and I really enjoyed the twist that Love & Other Natural Disasters put on it! It was a really unique take and very interesting! Plus the story flowed so nicely and I could've easily finished it one sitting if my evil work didn't get in the way of my reading plans! I didn't want to put it down for a second.
This has definitely become of my favourite sapphic romances and I am so excited to read Misa Sugiura's other works! I loved the message that sometimes you have to come out of fantasy land - real love can be messy but it so worth it!
Love & Other Natural Disasters is a fun and brilliant sapphic romance that highlights the importance of romantic, platonic and familial love. Thank you so much for my advanced copy - it was an amazing read!
