September 2020 Wrap Up!
I hope you're all doing well! September seemed to fly by but I am super excited to be in October because it's finally spooky season! You all know how terrible I am with horror but I love Halloween - mostly for the movies and being able to eat loads of sweets 😂 What's your favourite movie for this time of year? I love all of the classics - Addams Family, Corpse Bride, Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus and of course The Nightmare Before Christmas 😍 Plus it's finally the return of my beloved Pumpkin Spice Lattes which are just amazing 🙌 As you can tell I'm just a tiny bit excited but without further ado here is the wrap up of everything that happened in September.
I'm still in a bit of a slump but I read some absolutely amazing books this month! My personal favourite for this month was Addie LaRue, I'm so excited to get my review out for this book soon - it was absolutely gorgeous! Also I started If We Were Villains by M.L.Rio yesterday and it is so good so far - but that will be included in my October wrap up because I've still got a way to go with that one 😂
Please let me know if you've read any of these too! I need to geek out with someone 😂
This Is How You Lose The Time War -
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue - V.E. Schwab
The Adulting Manual - Milly Smith & Katie Abey
If Love Had A Price - Ana Huang
I treated myself a little bit this month because I had some birthday vouchers from last month left over to spend, plus I had some lovely bookmail from some great publishers! Although the only book missing from this list is the one I preordered - The Silvered Serpents by Roshani Chokshi - I've been desperate to find out what happens next in The Gilded Wolves series but Amazon messed me around with my preorder and I haven't received it yet 😭 But I've cancelled the Amazon order and instead gone with Waterstones so hopefully I should get it soon!
Twin Daggers - MarcyKate Connolly (gifted from Harper Collins)
Cinderella is Dead - Kalynn Bayron
The Burning Page - Genevieve Cogman
A Thousand Ships - Natalie Haynes
Piranesi - Susanna Clarke
Blood Metal Bone - Lindsay Cummings (gifted from Harper Collins)
The Rock 'N' Roll 'N' That - Steven J. Gill (gifted from Authoright)
If Love Had A Price - Ana Huang
I've had a rather busy month this September but haven't managed to get up as many reviews as I would've liked. However I did get up my reviews for The Mermaid, The Witch & The Sea and A Deadly Education. I really enjoyed reading these stories and getting to review them, plus it definitely helped that they both upped my NetGalley ratio - now I just need help with not requesting loads more 😂 Also I was so lucky to be invited to the Virtual Launch Party for early readers of A Deadly Education and it was such a fun evening! It was so cool to be able to hear more about Naomi's writing process and also the behind the scenes of how The Scholomance and the characters came about!
I'm hoping to start posting some more content soon as well rather than just reviews, so fingers crossed I'll be able to roll that out soon!
I had a couple of really exciting collaborations this month as well! I loved being part of a cover reveal for Lindsay Cummings new book Blood Metal Bone coming in January 2021 and I was also given a cheeky extract from the book to share with you all, so if you fancy having a sneak peek make sure to check out my cover reveal post! The lovely team over at Harper Collins also gifted me an E-ARC of the book, so keep an eye out for a review, hopefully soon but you know what I'm like! 😂
Additionally, I also collaborated with the headphone company Sudio over on my Instagram! The lovely team got in touch and gifted me an absolutely gorgeous pair of Black Tolv wireless headphones in exchange for a couple of posts on Instagram featuring my honest thoughts on the product. This was such an amazing and fun opportunity, I loved partnering with Sudio! The headphones are so comfortable, although it did take me a little bit to get used to them because they go right in the ear, but after that they were great! I use them mostly for music because I listen to it all of the time and for my Netflix 😂 I don't listen to audiobooks which is such a shame because I think they would be absolutely perfect for them!
So I know this wrap up post has been a bit longer than usual but I have one more update that I'd like to share with you guys! I finally managed to get a job! So from October I'll be working again, as a result I might struggle to be active on my social media but I promise to try my best and to try and get some more content up for everyone! I caved and started a notion so I'm hoping that it going to help me organise my time a little bit better, but wish me luck ❤️
Love Soph x
