Proofreading

A new feature on Book, Blog & Candle is that I am now accepting proofreading requests! I have finished a Proofreading & Copy-Editing course and am now working as a Freelance Proofreader.
I have good attention to detail and from my blog you know that I enjoy reading a great variety of books! As far as qualifications go I have a LLB Law Degree and as mentioned previously I have received a Distinction in a CPD Certified Proofreading and Copyediting course.
If you have a project that you would like me to proofread, please read through my proofreading policy and either fill in the form below or email me at bookblogandcandle@gmail.com. I follow the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading suggested minimum rates, so please get in touch and I'm sure we can work something out!
Please read through this list before submitting a proofreading request:
  • As a proofreader, I will find errors in your document, for example typos and grammar. I don't do rewriting or any other editing/copy-editing services.
  • I will be as diligent as possible but some typos may slip through the cracks due to human error.
  • I'm very sorry but I do not proofread anything in the horror genre.
  • I reserve the right to be able to decline requests.
  • I am not liable for any of the content included in your project.
  • The request form asks whether you will be able to send a sample of your text, this is just so I can get a feel of what I'll be working with and how long it may take so that I can give you an accurate quote but don't worry if you do not have one, I will still consider your request!
  • If you have a style guide that you would like me to work from once your request is accepted, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to work with that for you.
  • If you would like me to proofread a piece of fiction for you, it would be great if you could prepare a list of character names and locations you use for once your request is accepted so that I know the correct spelling from the start but this is not mandatory.
  • In the description of your request please make sure you include how long your project is (i.e page number or word count) and your deadline for the project. I will get back to you as soon as I can to let you know if I am available and the quote for the work.
  • The quote is a no obligation quote - if you decide that I am not the proofreader for you then that is completely ok.
  • Cancellation policy: I completely understand if things change and if you want to cancel. If you do wish to cancel please let me know as soon as possible and I can issue a refund. If I have already started work on the project please be aware that I will have to factor in the work I have already completed.
  • As I work by the hour, I will let you know how long I think I will need to take on the project and the full price in the quote.
  • Once the job is completed I will let you know and send you the details to make the payment through Paypal.
Thank you for considering me for your proofreading request, I look forward to working with you.
